The publication of Rumanian Grandmaster Mihai Suba’s DYNAMIC CHESS STRATEGY in 1991 was a groundbreaking event with its totally modern perspective. Almost twenty years later an expanded second edition is no longer as revolutionary but still a first-rate read with plenty of instructive material including 36 deeply annotated games of the author.
The present work is considerably enlarged from the first edition with a new, improved translation. While there are no additional games featured, almost all the games given have had the annotations reworked to bring them up to date. This is also true of the introduction while the quiz section is new. Besides being a thoughtful and inspirational work, DYNAMIC CHESS STRATEGY, is also filled with wry observations and dark humor based on the author’s experiences living in Ceauşescu’s workers’ paradise.
This book is a steal at $18.95.
