GARY’S ADVENTURES IN CHESS COUNTRY seeks to teach kids the basics of chess in a way that will improve their reasoning and develop their problem-solving abilities.
 
Sukhin, who has been using chess for over 20 years to teach children and has been repeatedly honored by the Russian government for his work, has divided GARY’S ADVENTURES IN CHESS COUNTRY into 15 chapters. Using stories and puzzles, he starts off by teaching the rules of the game and steadily moves forward until by the end of the book readers are solving 2 move check mates. This book, which is suitable for children ages four on up, is lavishly illustrated with lots of color. The real key to its success however is not the excellent production values but the well thought out approach to presenting the material.
 
GARY’S ADVENTURES IN CHESS COUNTRY is suitable for a parent or teacher working with a child or for a youngster working independently.
